Iranians chant ‘death to Israel’ on ‘Quds Day’

"Quds Day" is an annual regime-sanctioned demonstration held on last Friday of Ramzan.

Tens of thousands of people marched here today at the “Quds Day” rally,an annual regime-sanctioned demonstration in solidarity with Palestinians and against Israel,according to footage aired on state

television.

The television showed large crowds in major cities,carrying banners of “Death to Israel” and “Death to America”.

Many demonstrators also brandished portraits of the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the founder of the Islamic revolution,Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,who attended the rally in Tehran,was to give a speech before the Friday prayers at Tehran University.

The “Quds Day” rally is held every year on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramzan in solidarity with the Palestinians.
