Against the backdrop of suspected American terrorist David Headley's visit to parts of India including Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said his government has taken all security measures in case of any terror strike.
"We (state government) are prepared for everything... All steps will be taken. He was in Mumbai and India. He is under the custody of the FBI and from our side the NIA is investigating the matter," Chavan told reporters in New Delhi on his first visit to Delhi after being sworn in as the Chief Minister of the state.
Asked about the alleged terror plot which Headley had weaved, Chavan said, "let us not jump to conclusions. Wait for the investigations".
To a query about the role of Rahul Bhatt, the son of film maker Mahesh Bhatt, Chavan said no statement should be made which unnecessarily brings a bad name to a person even as investigations are on.
"The police is looking into it..." he said when asked if clean chit was given to Rahul Bhatt. He added, he was not imputing that a clean chit was given yet as the issue is under investigation.
Replying to questions on other issues, the Chief Minister rejected allegations that compensation was not given to all the victims of the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai, saying this was "wrong".
Chavan said, "Everyone is sympathetic to the family of the victims. It is not proper to bring such issues again and again."
Asked whether the state government would recommend the de-recognition of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena due to its activities in the recent past, the CM said that four MLAs of the party have already been suspended for their actions in the state Assembly.
