Kolkata: The ITC group will invest around Rs 3,000-Rs 4,000 crore in the next three to four years in West Bengal, its Chairman Y C Deveshwar said here on Tuesday after he met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He said his company is interested in setting up of an IT Park at Rajarhat for which it has sought a seven-acre plot. ITC's projected investments are expansion of ITC Sonar hotel and a food processing unit and setting up of an unit of ITC Infotech. It has diversified presence in FMCG, hotels, paperboards and packaging, agri business and information technology.
Police associations: Govt to seek HC review
KOLKATA: The state government has decided to move the Division Bench of Calcutta High Court, a day after a Single Bench set aside its decision to disband three police associations — Paschimbanga Non-Gazetted Police Karmachari Union, Paschimbanga Police Association and Kolkata Police Association. "We will move the Division Bench judgment regarding disbanding of police unions," Law Minister Chandrima Bhattacharjee said.
Woman found dead in city hotel
Kolkata: Body of a 38-year-old woman was found inside a hotel room in Kolkata on Tuesday. She had checked in the room under the name of Anusua Bera, a resident of Midnapore, last night with a man who was introduced as her brother-in-law. When she didn't come out of the room for the whole day, hotel authorities informed police. Mondal has been missing. Hotel said that she had produced a photo ID.
