  • A few months ago, he was like any other student who was fond of playing basketball. In the May this year, he hogged the limelight and became the champion of basketball after he scored more than 16 points (second highest points) in the Punjab State Basketball Championship in the under-14 category. Since then, Saranjan, a Class X student of Christian Fellowship Centre, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, is better known as the 'player with maximum points'.

Saranjan, who has been playing the game for the last three years, said, "The game has always fascinated me. Earlier, I used to watch matches on the television or go to the Guru Nanak Stadium. One day, I decided to practise on my own. When I was in Class VIII, I joined the Baba Ludhiana Academy of Basketball under the supervision of coach Ashwani Kumar."

Ask him as how he felt when he scored the maximum points, he beams, "My fellow players and classmates appreciated me. I have decided to polish my skills under the supervision of my coach."
