A Srinagar court on Thursday took a strong view of the medical report of four boys who on October 29 had alleged before a court that J&K Police personnel had forced them to strip and later sodomise one another.
First Additional Sessions Judge Ashok Gupta criticised the doctors for producing the report, which was submitted on Thursday, in a “casual and non-serious manner” and asked the Medical Superintendent to be present during the next hearing to explain why, despite the court order, the report did not mention the cause of the injury.
“The medical report submitted by the Medical Superintendent reveals that the medical examination has been conducted in very casual and callous manner,” observed Judge Ashok Gupta.
The court also noted that there was no mention of Faheem Bilal, who had accused the police of forcing him into sodomy. “As far as the sodomy is concerned, no opinion or cause of the bruises has been mentioned in the report by the panel of doctors so constituted,” the judge observed.
On October 27, 11 boys, including four minors, were arrested by the cops of Maharaja Gunj Police Station on charges of stone-pelting.
Later, the court ordered the release of all the 11 boys and asked the police to split the chargesheet and prepare a new chargesheet for minors which should be produced before the juvenile court.
