J P Singh takes oath as HPPSC member

J P Singh,a former IAS officer,was sworn in as member of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission on Wednesday to fill the vacancy created after the retirement of Brigadier L S Thakur.

J P Singh,a former IAS officer,was sworn in as member of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) on Wednesday to fill the vacancy created after the retirement of Brigadier L S Thakur (Retd).

Singh,who was posted as Labour Commissioner-cum-Director Employment,had resigned last week from the all-India service after his name was cleared for the post by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal a few days ago. He was administered oath of office and secrecy by HPPSC Chairman Major General C M Sharma (Retd) at a ceremony held at the Secretariat.

Chief Secretary Rajwant Sandhu,HP State Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman Subash Negi,Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Ajay Mittal,Director General of Police D S Manhas,Director,Census Operations,Balbir Tegta and top civil and police officers were present at the function. Justice Rajeev Sharma of the Himachal Pradesh High Court also attended the ceremony.

Singh has earlier served as home and vigilance secretary,secretary to governor,revenue secretary and the deputy commissioner of Kinnaur and Mandi. With his appointment,the commission will now have all three members in place,beside its chairman.
