Jain on BJP poll reforms panel

Senior BJP leader Satya Pal Jain has been nominated as a member of the eight member high-powered BJP Election Reforms Committee formed for a comprehensive study.

Senior BJP leader Satya Pal Jain has been nominated as a member of the eight member high-powered BJP Election Reforms Committee formed for a comprehensive study of election-related issues and to help the party effectively formulate its stand on all subjects. This would include studying the effects of black money in elections,criminalisation of politics,efficacy of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and reservation for women in Parliament and State legislatures.

The Committee,constituted by BJP national President Nitin Gadkari,will work under the guidance of party Parliamentary Party Chairman L K Advani. The committee will deliberate on issues like the delimitation of constituencies in terms of socio-economic factors and geography.

This is to ensure that the party can take a practically feasible and politically correct stand on contentious issues confronting the biggest democracy of the world.

The panel will also study various reports available in the public domain,including those of the Administrative Reforms Commission,and interact with the concerned Union and state government ministries as well as the Election Commission of India. It will visit different states to get inputs from the state units,experts and interested public on these issues.
