Jalandhar judge among four injured in multiple collision

Jalandhar Additional District Judge Baldev Singh Sodhi,the driver and his daughter were among four persons who sustained injuries in a multiple collision of vehicles on the Mohali-Sohana-Landran Road in Sohana near here on Sunday evening.

Sodhi’s two-year-old granddaughter Sukhmani alias Khushboo,however,escaped unhurt. The accident took place near the Sohana bus stand around 7.30 pm when a recklessly driven truck,coming from Landran side,collided head-on with the Tata Indigo,in which the ADJ was travelling. After colliding with the car,the truck driver hit a Honda Activa scooter,coming behind the ADJ’s car,said investigation officer (IO) Gurinder Singh. While the ADJ,driver and his daughter Manju (16) were discharged after treatment,scooterist Ajit Singh of Phase IX here was admitted at a charitable hospital in Sohana for treatment,the IO said.

According to information,the ADJ was going back to Jalandhar after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Singh Shahidan in Sohana. The police arrested and later released truck driver Paras Ram on bail for causing injuries by rash and negligent driving under Sections 279,337 and 427 of the IPC.

Following the mishap,traffic remained badly disrupted on the road for a couple of hours. It was only after the police pulled away the mangled remains of the vehicles that smooth flow of traffic was restored.
