The main complex of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), in Muridke on the outskirts of Lahore, which is linked to last month’s terror attack on Mumbai, is still open four days after the UN Security Council placed the group on a terrorist list, The Times has learnt.

Pakistan claims that it ordered the closure of the JuD’s facilities on Thursday under pressure from India and the United States, which consider the group a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) — the militant group blamed for the Mumbai attack.

But when The Times visited the complex in Muridke, 30 miles from Lahore, over the weekend it was functioning normally with no sign of any police presence.

Most of the 1,600 students at the complex were away for last week’s Eid holidays, but a dozen or so staff and about 40 others were moving freely around the buildings, none of which was sealed.

The paper quoted Mohammed Abbas, 34, also known as Abu Ahsan, the administrator of the complex, as saying: “We’ve not had any official communication about closing. A lot of parents have been calling, afraid that it will be closed or there could be some violence, but we are telling them to send their children back.”

The factsBy: Anil Kumar | 15-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Everybody knows that Pakistan is a rogue State. Us is tolerating becuase of Afghanistan. The situation will not change there because, most of the people are illiterate and very poor. These people are vulnerable and can be lured for suicidal missions and act as terrorist by Islamic Militants all across the world. The militant Organisations are funded by Saudis and some other Arab rich people. Till the finance flow is not cut, acheiving peace and normalacy is difficult. India has to guard itself against the Pakistanstate sponsedred Terrorism and Proxy war. Why we need relations with Pakistan, any relation with Pakistan will only give headaches only. It is better if they stay away. Jai Hind!!
How many arrests?By: Rajan Sharma | 15-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward I am least surprised. How many would you arrest, when most of them are the terrorists. To arrest all of them, one needs to turn all the buildings of Pakistan into Jails.
Murike still openBy: M Naqqaad | 17-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward So do we need, here in India.
The truthBy: jaga | 15-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward One local police commander, seeing journalists arrive, rushed over and proclaimed that Mr. Saeed was confined inside his home, banned from going outside now or at any other time. Almost on cue, Mr. Saeed emerged moments later from the mosque across the street, clad in a green jacket and a cream-colored shalwar kameez, the long tunic and baggy pants that Pakistani men commonly wear, and ambled back to his house. “No, no, it’s not Hafiz Saeed,” the embarrassed commander said, though it clearly was. “I’m just following instructions,” he added.
