Jats demand quota,block rail tracks

Railway traffic on the Lucknow-Delhi route remained paralysed till late tonight after a group of villagers led by activists of Jat Sangharsh Samiti.

Railway traffic on the Lucknow-Delhi route remained paralysed till late tonight after a group of villagers led by activists of Jat Sangharsh Samiti blocked the tracks near Gajraula and Amroha stations in Jyotiba Phule Nagar district on Saturday.

The protesters were demanding reservation for the Jat community in the backward quota of the central government.

The Moradabad range IG,Jawed Akhtar,said residents from places adjacent to Jyotiba Phule Nagar district gathered on the tracks near Amroha and Gajraula stations around 4 pm. District magistrate Lokesh M and SP Udai Pratap are meeting the leaders of the community to resolve the matter,he added.
