As The BJP petitioned President Pratibha Patil for recall of Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj on Monday, its ally JD(U) charged the Governor with violation of constitutional norms.
The Governors role is not correct. He is violating the dignity of his office and going beyond his limits, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav said while responding to questions from reporters.
Having criticised Bhardwaj,Yadav did not make any effort to hide his disapproval of Yeddyurappas acts of omission and commission either. Asked if he was siding with Yeddyurappa, the JD(U) chief shot back: I am not with anyone, but it is my duty to speak up if there is anything happening against the spirit of the Constitution.
Regarding the charges of corruption against Yeddyurappa,he said,I had given an advice to the the BJP. I am concerned about what has been happening there (in Karnataka). He excused himself from any further query citing his limitations as an ally.
Yadav was known to have suggested to the BJP leadership in private to remove Yeddyurappa if the party wanted its anti-corruption campaign against the Central government to have any credibility among people.
While responding to a question about the BJP plan to hoist the national flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar,Yadav said,Jammu and Kashmir is a delicate issue and I appeal to them again to drop the move, he said.
He said it was gratifying that peace had returned to the Valley. And nothing should be done to disturb it.
He claimed that barring the 206 Congress MPs,all Lok Sabha members, including those from UPA partners Trinamool Congress and NCP,backed the demand for a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam.
On the Left favouring a smooth conduct of the budget session of Parliament,Yadav said,We want it too.
Yadav condemned the government for withholding names of people who have stashed wealth overseas on the pretext of treaties with other countries.
