  • The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAEINDIA) kick-started ‘Jet Toy Olympics’, a programme to introduce schoolchildren to the fundamentals of science, mathematics, technology and automotive engineering at the Indira National School, Wakad, on Sunday. The event is being held under the banner of ‘A World in Motion (AWIM).’

While the secondary school students will get an opportunity to learn concepts of inertia, friction and laws of motion effortlessly while making their dream cars, teachers will get a chance to network with engineering and industry professionals for a meaningful interaction, said a press release from ARAI.

“ARAI is promoting this out-of-classroom education programme as a step to orient schoolchildren towards hard-core engineering which will go a long way towards the development of technical human resource required for our country,” said Shrikant Marathe, director ARAI, who is also vice president of SAEINDIA. In the AWIM programme, students are provided with a kit containing raw materials to build toy cars.
