A resident of Nirala Nagar under Kidwai Nagar police station, Tandon owned a jewellry shop — Pushpak Bankers and Jewelers.
Indicating that the jeweller had a tainted past, the DIG said: “Tandon had been arrested earlier for purchasing stolen jewellery from men accused in a murder case registered in Barra police station in 2008.”
Alok Mani Tripathi said: “Deep marks around the neck indicate that Tandon was strangled to death. We are still investigating the case, but initial probe proves that Tandon had a personal rivalry with some people.”
Zia-ud-din murder: Blood samples to be tested in Agra laboratory
To verify the information provided by the four arrested in the case of alleged kidnapping-cum-murder of 18-year-old Zia-ud-din alias Ali, the Kanpur police plans to send the blood samples recovered from Ajgain to the Forensic Science Lab, Agra, for laboratory tests. “To confirm the information provided by kidnappers, the blood samples collected from Ajgain will be sent to the Forensic Science Lab for tests,” said DIG, Kanpur, B P Jogdand. Ali was kidnapped from Govind Nagar area on November 5. Four ‘kidnappers’ arrested have confessed that they murdered Ali and dumped his body on a roadside. ENS
