9X Jhakaas,a Marathi music channel was launched amidst much fanfare by the 9X Media Group at Le Meridien. The 24-hour music channel airs back-to-back Marathi film and non-film songs interspersed with short,humorous animated shows. Brand ambassadors of the Media network,Bade and Chote,poke jokes in Marathi in their signature show,Bakwaas Band Kar as new characters like Surmai,a lavani dancer fish and Chochya,an enthusiastic parrot eager to voice his opinions on social issues,promise to entertain the Marathi viewers. “Maharashtra is very important to us as we try to develop a musical vertical of our own with 9X M,9X Tashan and now 9X Jhakaas,” said Punit Pandey,senior vice president and business head,9X Media Group. The channel’s tagline,’Aai Shappath!’ promises to bring quality music which the audiences can connect with and also to serve as a platform for new talent in the Marathi music industry. “Our campaign is called ‘Life Banawel Jhakaas’,that is adding zing to your life. As part of this campaign,we have tied up with state transport authorities to distribute free tickets to commuters travelling between key cities across Maharashtra on weekends,” reveals Pandey.
