The CID arrested a staffer of a private resort in Jhargram on Wednesday night for allegedly supplying arms and money to the Maoists.
Acting on a tip-off, the CID arrested Swapan Mudi but failed to catch another resort employee, Kala Hembram.
“We have seized several important documents and a cellphone from Swapan Mudi, who was handed over to the district police. At present, we are looking for Kala Hembram,” said Kuldip Singh, IG, Western Range.
Both the accused used to carry the consignments of arms from one place to another and collect funds for the ultras, said the CID.
According to a senior CID officer, the department has information that several other staffers of the resort work for the Maoists.
“From the documents, we have come to know about the code names used by the Maoists for getting the consignments of arms. The names of construction materials were mostly used as code words for arms and weapons,” said a senior officer. For example, bullets were referred to as vitamins, ilish meant arms and cement meant explosives.
They used the code names of 3.6 inch rod for bullets of 303 rifles and eight-inch rod for bullets of AK series weapons. While Tata cement was used to refer to gelatin, sand was used as a code word for SLR and INSAS rifles.
Sources said Mudi was given Rs 30,000 by Sasadhar Mahato, mastermind of last year’s mine blast attack on the chief minister’s convoy in Salboni, for delivering a consignment of 1,000 rounds of bullets in Gohamidanga ahead of the Maoists’ attack on Sankrail police station.
