  • The state Vigilance Bureau on Friday filed a petition at the Special Court (Vigilance) seeking issuance of arrest warrants against two former ministers — Enos Ekka and Harinarayan Rai.

The Bureau, on a petition filed by Durga Oraon and Kumar Vinod, was directed by the court to investigate into the assets of Ekka and Rai who were Independent MLAs from Kolebira and Jarmundi since 2005 and were ministers during the NDA and UPA regime in the state. An FIR was soon lodged against the two under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the IPC. Earlier this year, premises of Ekka and Rai in Simdega and Deoghar respectively were raided by the vigilance and incriminating documents seized.

Former CM Shibu Soren sacked the two in December after the Bureau registered the disproportionate assets case against them. None of them have vacated their official residences till date.
