J-K Governor dismisses PDP charge, asks Omar to continue

    Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra dismissed PDP's allegation that Omar Abdullah was involved in the 2006 sex scandal and asked him to continue discharging his responsibilities as Chief Minister.

    The Governor while turning down Omar's offer to step down said there was no truth in the allegations levelled against him in the assembly by PDP leader Muzaffar Hussein Beigh about his alleged involvement in the sex scandal.

    "The Governor has advised the Chief Minister that, based on the information supplied to him by the Union Home Ministry, there is no basis for Omar seeking to resign," the Governor's spokesperson said.

    Omar had resigned on July 28 after Beigh alleged on the floor of the House saying the Chief Minister was an accused in the scandal.

    The Governor advised the Chief Minister to most vigorously devote himself to discharging responsibilities of J and K Chief Minister.

    allegations against Omar abdullah CM of J By: vraman | 31-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward The whole allegations is baseless and politically motivated.IF the opposition is true in its allegations ,what they have been doing all these time.This is just to intimidate now and then, without any valid problem to be brought before the Govt and Governor"s action in dismissing the same is right.Let the speaker rules out further discussion and proceed on important matters reuiring urgent discussion and move on.DR Omar abdull, should immediately file a demmation suit against Baig for trying to tarnishing the image of the CM forwith to make him shut up immediately.This can only course of action by the RUling paryt as well.

The Governors do not have any major constitutional powers. We have seen in the past that many decisions of various Governors have been challenged and the Courts have reversed the decisions of these governors. A person to be called a Governor must be neutral. However this is not so in reality. Many parties placate those people whose presence is not necessary otherwise. To be very precise, most of the governors we have seen are "value-based" in one sense and "value-less" in another. It is funny that a Chief Minister wants resigns on his own a Governor says no to him.

Mr. Beig has submitted the document which is material on record of the Hon'ble court and Mr. Omar Abdullah stands at serial NO. 102 and his father Mr.Farooq Abdullah at serial NO. 38.Mr. Beig has given the statement on the floor of Lagislative forum, based upon the material on record,so his statement is most balanced one and stands true in the eys of law. The clean chit of CBI has no value in the eyes of law. Even section 162 of our criminal procedure code approves this lgal position that police statements, (CBI clean Chit) recorded during investgations is not evidence in light of section 3 of the Indian Evidence Act.
