The bail applications moved by 13 accused in the Jammu and Kashmir sex scandal case were turned down by the District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) B S Mehandiratta here today.
Arguments over framing of charges against two accused, Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Mehrazuddin Malik ,were heard by the court. The case has been deferred to October 12 for arguments considering framing of charges against the remaining accused.
The Judge today also dismissed the anticipatory bail application of Manzoor Ahmed on the ground that the court did not have the jurisdiction to entertain the said bail application. On the other hand, the application moved by the defence counsel seeking the decoded set of documents was also deferred to Thursday after the CBI refused to provide the said documents citing security of the victim and witnesses as the primary ground. Earlier, the defence counsel had sought the decoded documents listing the names of the witnesses and victims in the case. “We cannot provide the decoded list, for it will expose the identity of witnesses and threat of winning them over by the accused will prevail” said the CBI public prosecutor.
