Investigating the Jnaneswari train carnage, the CBI on Wednesday seized tools and equipment that were used to remove pandrol clips from the tracks near Sardiha that led to the derailment. The agency, which has drawn a list of a dozen accused, also arrested one more person and detained another.

According to a senior official of the joint probe team, the investigators came to know about the equipment while interrogating PCAPA member and one of the prime accused Bapi Mahato. He is believed to have revealed the role of arrested PCAPA member Amiya Mahato, who had arranged the tools and equipment to derail the train. After removing the pandrol clips, the tools were kept at Amiya’s house.

“We have recovered a good number of equipment generally used by railway gangmen. Amiya arranged the equipment and hid them in his house,” said the official. Besides, the CBI took Bapi to his house in Rasua village from where too, several railway equipment were recovered.
