Jo Hum Chahein
Smart just-out-of-MBA-course type wants to make a quick fortune.
Director: Pawan Gill
Cast: Sunny Gill,Simran Mundi,Aly Khan,Achint Kaur
Indian Express rating: *
Smart just-out-of-MBA-course type wants to make a quick fortune. Leaving behind an ex-fauji father and a middle-class life,Rohan (Gill) takes off for Mumbai to become the kind of stockbroker ‘jo raato-raat karodpati ho jaate hain’ . A canny super-successful broker (Khan) pushes Rohan in the direction of a rich older woman (Kaur); love pulls him towards pretty girl Neha (Mundi).
For a film filled with newcomers, there seems to have been an attempt at a story, even though the writer is clearly in love with Wall Street. (If you get kicked out of office, you put your stuff into a carton and walk out : that very Hollywood carton, not a brief case, nor a backpack). But the inexperience shows all around. The leads look as if they have just strolled off modeling assignments, and speak out their lines, putting their best profiles forward. Khan and Kaur are the veterans, getting a lot of screen time : the former comes off annoyingly smarmy; the latter an over made-up (oh,that green eye-shadow) cougar.
The dialogues are mostly puerile, and go somewhat like this : jab feel karta hai,toh tell her na.
