BJP candidate Vijay Jolly on Tuesday went to the residence of his electoral rival, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, to seek her vote.
Jolly, the BJP candidate for the New Delhi constituency, drove to Dikshit’s residence, 3, Motilal Nehru Place, this morning along with his wife and two children to seek her “blessings”.
“I have come here to seek the blessings of Sheilaji and also to request for her vote as she is a voter of this constituency,” he told the reporters assembled.
Jolly said he was thankful to the chief minister for sparing time for him even though she was busy with campaigning for Congress candidates for the November 29 Delhi Assembly elections.
“I believe in the politics of affection and respect. Being younger than her, it is my right to seek her blessings for my success,” the sitting MLA from Saket constituency, who has shifted this time to the newly created New Delhi Assembly seat, said.
During his meeting, Jolly claimed he also took up the grievances of common people living in the constituency, like the lack of potable water in New Delhi, traffic problems and increasing prices of essential commodities, with the chief minister.
“I am happy that she took notice of that. This is a healthy form of democracy, as the Opposition is in a dialogue with the ruling party,” he said. “I have been a hardcore critic of hers both inside and outside during the last ten years and I am confident of giving her a strong fight these elections,” Jolly said.
