Medical reports of the first batch of 119 of the 231 revellers rounded up by the Mumbai police last month have revealed that 109 had used drugs at a rave party at Bombay 72 East in Juhu, which was raided by the sleuths from the Anti-Narcotics Cell.

The blood and urine samples of the 109 were sent for chemical analysis to Kalina Forensic Sciences Laboratory shortly after they were rounded up from the late night party on October 5.

The results were handed over to the police by the Kalina FSL on Tuesday afternoon.

Of the 109 who have tested positive, seven were peddlers, one a disc jockey while six other were organisers.

These 15 face prosecution under Sections 20 to 29 and 8(c) of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and can even be imprisoned for up to six months if found guilty.

In the past, first-time offenders booked under the NDPS Act for consumption were often released on bail once they volunteered to go to a rehabilitation centre to get over their addiction.

Police said two of the revelers charged with consumption were arrested for similar offence in rave parties in Pune and Bhayander. An Israeli reveler, DJ Ben Shimon (27), is due to be deported as he was performing in the city while on a visit on a tourist visa.

While Rahul Karmakar (24) and Anuradha Sanyal (20), the two who are said to be the kingpin among the peddlers, are in police custody, all their accomplices are still at large.

    ... contd.
