July 26 blasts: 14 accused sent to 5-day police custody

  • The designated Metropolitan Court, hearing the July 26 Ahmedabad blasts case, on Wednesday remanded 14 accused, including Abdul Razik, in police custody till December 1 in connection with the blast case registered with the Vatva police station.

    The Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) in its remand application had sought custody for 14 days, the full term permissible at one time.

    The Metropolitan Court instead granted the investigating agency the custody of the accused only for five days.

    All the accused have been in the police custody in the last three months for varying lengths of time.

    According to the remand application filed by the DCB, the custody of the accused was sought to know more about the conspiracy of the blasts that injured three persons at Narol Circle under the Vatva police station.

    The DCB is looking for clues about the people who did recce of the place and the people who actually planted the bombs.

    The accused are Raizuddin Nasir, Zahid Sheikh, Samsuddin, Usman Agarbattiwala, Younus Mansuri, Mohmmad Ali, Hafiz, Safdar Nagori, Kamruddin Nagori, Aamil Pervez, Aiyazm, Abdul Razik, Shibli, and Rafiuddin Kapadia.
