  • Saturday is the last day for students to apply to junior colleges through the website http://fyjc.org.in/mumbai. Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd (MKCL), in-charge of the website, said that 2,42,804 online forms have been filled and 1,88,126 forms were submitted by Friday evening.

Even as the verdict on the controversial 90:10 formula has been delayed, the deputy director of education, Mumbai region, has given the go ahead to admissions to minority colleges. Most minority colleges will begin admissions on Monday. Admissions to the religious minority quota will not be done through the online process. Parvati Venkatesh, Principal, KJ Somaiya College, Vidyavihar, said that the Deputy Director of Education on Friday informed that the first minority merit list will be put up on Monday.

The delay in the verdict on the 90:10 quota has left students of ICSE and CBSE boards in a tight spot. While every year these students wait for SSC results, usually declared in the last week of June, for admission to junior colleges this year the wait is set to be longer due to the delay in verdict. Kiran Bajaj, Principal, Greenlawns School, Worli said, “Our students have nothing to do but wait. This year has been strenuous for our students.”
