  • The Gokhale committee, which has been constituted by Chief Justice of India to investigate the Cash-at-Judge’s-Door case, today recorded the statement of Justice Nirmal Yadav, whose name has figured in the case.

The committee, which is expected to return tomorrow to Delhi, recorded the statements of Ravinder Singh, the alleged kingpin.

Ravinder Singh, who is at present in judicial custody was brought to the UT guesthouse, where the committee is staying. Ravinder Singh was grilled for four hours. The statements of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and the Kanungo from Solan were recorded by the committee. After recording their statements, the committee then examined Justice Nirmal Yadav, who reached the guesthouse at around 3.50 pm and was then questioned him for over four hours.

It might be recalled that it is the second visit of the committee to the city. The committee has already examined Justice Nirmaljit Kaur, the judge who had lodged an FIR after the packet of Rs 15 lakh was “wrongly” delivered at her residence in Sector 11.
