Karmakar sets national record

  • Joydeep Karmakar of Indian Railways created a national record in 50m rifle prone men event at the 51st National Shooting Competitions here today at the Rifle Club.

    Karmakar won gold in the 50m rifle prone men’s event with a score of 700.7 (598+102.7).

    He bettered the record of 698 (596+102) created by Sanjeev Rajput in 2006 in Indore.

    Akash Kumar Ravi Das of NCC won silver with 698.6 (596+102.6) and the bronze went to Devansh Panwar of Army with 697 (595+102).

    In the 50m rifle prone team event, Army bagged the gold (1771) followed by BSF (1758) and Navy (1758).

    In 50m rifle prone junior men’s event, Akash Kumar Ravi Das of NCC won gold medal with a score of 596/600 and established a national record.

    He surpassed the existing record of Sushil Ghaley established in Phillaur in 2000 with a score of 593.

    Atul Wade, also from NCC, won silver medal at 589. The bronze medal was won by Tenzin Dhonyoe of Army with 582.

    In the 50m rifle prone junior team event, NCC won gold, Army silver and Tamil Nadu bronze.

    Bapu Vanzare of Army with a score of 677.9 (578+99.9) won gold in men’s 10m air pistol.

    Samresh Jung (677.4) of CISF got silver while Gurpal Singh of Army pocketed bronze.

    In the air-pistol team event, Army won gold, Indian Airlines silver and Indo-Tibet Border Police won bronze.
