The warring factions in Karnataka BJP have been summoned to Delhi on Saturday after the patch-up efforts by Arun Jaitley failed even as the senior leader ruled out any change in leadership of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.
With no solution in sight, Jaitley returned to Delhi ruling out any change in leadership of Yeddyurappa but the dissidents remained unrelenting in their demand for his removal.
"There is no change in the leadership of Yeddyurappa whose government is functioning well," Jaitley, in-charge of Karnataka affairs, told reporters in Bangalore.
Party sources said Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy and his brother Revenue Minister G Karunakara Reddy and their associate Health Minister B Sriramulu, along with Assembly Speaker Jagadish Shettar, state unit president D V Sadanand Gowda and other rebel MLAs, have been summoned.
Expressing confidence that a solution would be found soon, a beleaguered Yeddyurappa said "the central leadership is aware of the differences of opinion that has surfaced among leaders in the state."
Jaitley had assured him that the issue would be resolved smoothly, said Yeddyurappa, who is facing a fresh bout of dissidence led by Reddy brothers and their loyalist Sreeramulu.
Karunakara Reddy, who was invited by Jaitley for talks, said "problems faced by MLAs have been brought to the attention of central leadership."
