DMK president and former Tamil Naddu chief Minister M Karunanidhi today moved a court here seeking action against a Tamil daily,its editor and publisher for its comments relating to Anna Centenary Library,which were allegedly defamatory.
In a petition filed before Chief Metropolitan Magistgrate R Killivalavan,T K S Elangovan,MP,who represented Karunanidhi,said the paper had in its November four issue carried an editorial using “defamatory and derogatory language” against Karunanidhi regarding the library.
The library building was conceived,designed and built under the direct supervision of the state Public Works Department,through an open tender,the petitioner claimed,adding the accusation against him was ‘false and defamatory’.
The matter has been adjourned to November 15.
Tamil Nadu government had announced its decision to abandon the library,a pet project of Karunanidhi,and convert it into a super-speciality paediatric hospital.
