Mumbai police are charging Kasab so that they can hold him in custody for longer while they collect more evidence before his trial begins.

Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasav, the lone terrorist caught alive during the November 26 terror attacks, on Thursday was in Mumbai for his alleged involvement in the killing of ATS chief Hemant Karkare and two other senior police officers.

Due to security concerns, Kasav was not produced in a regular court and a magistrate and a public prosecutor were taken to the police lock-up, where the terrorist was lodged.

"When asked by the magistrate if he had any complaints against the police, Kasav said he had none," Additional Public Prosecutor Eknath Dhumal said referring to the remand proceeedings.

Following brief arguments regarding his custody, the terrorist, who has not yet obtained any legal representation, was sent to police custody for 14 days.

Kasav and terrorist Ismail Khan, who was killed in a shootout with the police, had allegedly ambushed and killed six policemen, including Karkare, Additional Commissioner Ashok Kamte and Inspector Vijay Salaskar, on November 26 night. The police have registered 12 terror cases in connection with the November 26 strikes in the city that left 183 dead and over 200 injured.

Kasav, who hails from Pakistan, has been booked under various charges, including waging war against India, murder, attempt to murder and sections of the Arms Act and Explosives Act.

The only one in the group of ten terrorists who attacked Mumbai to be arrested alive, Kasav has been kept in an undisclosed location since his arrest on November 26 in south Mumbai.

The city Crime Branch, which has Kasav's custody, had requested the magistrate to hear the remand application in the police lock-up due to security concerns with regard to his production in an open court.

KasabBy: Anoymous | 27-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward i think we should give Kasab another chance i think he has repented for what he did and the only reason he became a terrorist is becuz he wanted money and he was poor if we kill him the LeT will come back and attack again to take revenge and what will heppen if we kill him nothing right? Maybe some people will get peace but after that what?I think they should not kill him.
GIVE A CHANCE TO AJMALBy: Tanweer | 20-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward A CAHNCE must be given to Ajmal as after this attack when he saw his friends dying in a wrong way he got a correction! i am sure he will quit the terrorism act now as he is repenting. if he was not repenting, he would have complain against the police because his friend was killed by the gun fires of the police. But he said to the magistrate thet he has NONE. GIVE A CHANCE TO AJMAL
Innocence of Ajmal KasavBy: Tanweer | 20-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward A.Kasav is innocent. he was forced to do this. he is not a terrorist but in fact he is a poor guy who never saw money before and in greed to gain wealth, he accepted any offer he got! HE IS NOT A TERRORIST BU AN INNOCENT! NO PUNISHMENT SHOULD BE GIVEN TO AJMAL. ITS THE MASTERMIND OF THE PLAN WHO SHOULD BE PUNISHED.
One Chance Can Be GivenBy: Alok Srivastava | 12-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward I think One Chance Can Be Given to Kasab, because this way we can give a message to those who are taking Training in Pakistani Camps. Hope they will stop doing this terrorist activities. They can be in situation of Repent.
Terrorist = Nor epent. Need to take revengeBy: Chauhan | 13-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Hey Alok... Are you really Indian? Think twice before posting like a coward. Our blood is boiling everyday - we need revenge. Khun ka badla khun. If terrorist really had heart then they would have stopped killing our brothers/sisters/mothers/fathers, just after starting the carnage. Can we kill anybody without any reason? No. And they did it. So no repent situation for them - it wasn't, it isn't and won't be in their heart. We never got any evidence / incident that prove that they have a feeling of regret. Look back in history, how many times we Indians were attacked by terrorists. No more cowardice act. KHUN KA BADLA KHUN.
SAY YES TO NON- VIOLENCEBy: Tanweer | 22-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward hey stop thinking of revenge! non violece must be uesd if you really want to stop the killing of your population! the more you will fight back, the more you will suffer. so please stop the thinkin of revenge. maybe India has its part of guily that is why it always suffer. take example of Mauritius- this island never receive terrorist attack because it is an island which is friendly throughout the world- never think of revenge but always of friendship!!! PLEASE STOP BEING PESSIMISTIC!!!!!!!!
