  • Kasab
Kasab's lawyer had earlier claimed his client was a juvenile.

After having initially pleaded to face trial as a juvenile, arrested terror suspect Mohammed Ajmal Kasab surprised the special court conducting his trial by saying he was 21 years of age.

Kasab, when asked his age by the court, calmly said,"21."

Hearing this Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said, "The cat is out of the bag!"

Kasab responded with a smile saying, "Agar aapko mujhpe yakeen nahin hai toh main kya karoon?...Agar yakeen hota toh shayad hum yahaan nahin hote (If you don't believe me what can I do?..If you had believed me then I would not have been here facing trial)."

At this point, Special Judge M L Tahaliyani warned him only to address the court and no one else.

Kasab's lawyer had earlier claimed his client was a juvenile during the November 26 terror strikes. However, medical tests ordered by the court indicated that he was over 20 years old.

Attired in a purple shirt and track pant, Kasab, who has been in custody since his arrest on November 27, keenly listened as Judge Tahiliyani read out the charges against him.

When asked if he pleaded guilty to the charges, Kasab said,"Nahin. Yeh sab kuch galat hai, mujhe kuch gunaah kabool nahin hai. (No. All these charges are wrong. I do not accept responsibility for any of these crimes)"

KASAB WANTED TO ESCAPE BY FOOLINGBy: B S GANESH, BANGALORE | 09-May-2009 Reply | Forward Kasab and his lawyer wanted to fool Indian proecutor and judges to esacape. At the time Kasab was caught he admitted his age as 21. Was it not sufficient to proceed? Parhaps Kasab wanted to escape by his and his lawyers' afterthought. What is the fun of delaying verdict? Is it to protect him like afzal Guru. I think | there is keen need for judicial reforms and also political reforms to meet the alarming growth of crimes and terrorism in India. Unless this is done on priority safety of citizens and country are at stake. B S GANESH, BANGALORE
May God Save all IndiansBy: Indu | 07-May-2009 Reply | Forward Oh, at last it has started!! The trial of the dreaded Kasab. Now we have to wait and watch how long this will continue. It'll go on adjourning... he may perhaps get bail... he may be allowed to get married.... his wife may submit mercy plea to the Indian President. All these are possible events in the Indian system. MAY GOD SAVE ALL INDIANS.
Kasab surprises court, accepts that he is 21By: Ratan Gupta | 07-May-2009 Reply | Forward We Indians are used to excitement and propencity to blame a community or country or a person for all our problems. We got Pakistan all the time to fill our epitite. It is not exciting that we have the largest ghetto or slump right in Bombay. It is not exciting that 100 thousand farmers have officially or unofficially committed suicide in our wonderful peaceful democracy. It is not exciting that Hindu Males are still burning and killing no less than 100 thousand women for not bringing dowry. It is not exciting that we have faaaaaar more poverty than Paksitan and Sri Lanka. Oh' 700 million people suppressing their pain under the slogan of below poverty line. I have not seen one picture of any Pakistani without clothes. Millions of Indians do not seems to have clothes at all. Pakistan is like low hanging fruit for our leaders, intellectuals, ordinary people. Easy to blame. Easy for passtime. It is like a drug or cocaine that we need to have it every weakend. Fools.
kasab and indian judiciaryBy: s ramji | 07-May-2009 Reply | Forward Its a irony that lakhs of rupees is being spent for safety of kasab and for conduct of the proceedings of the case -where the whole world has seen him shooting people at every point. Its the contribution of our Indian Lawyers who would have suggested to kasab to claim he is under 18- Who has given this freedom to tell lies to the lawyers and that too for a person who has killed 100s. Its time the judicial procedure is cut short and case heard and decision taken in days and the entire tamasha is put to an end
