Abbas Kazmi said that inspection of these places was necessary to prepare for Kasab's defence.

Mumbai terror attack accused Mohammed Amir Ajmal Kasab's lawyer has sought permission from the trial court to inspect the marine vessel 'Kuber', allegedly used by terrorists to reach the city's shores, and various places where they had struck on November 26 last year.

Abbas Kazmi moved the application on Wednesday evening, saying the inspection of these places was necessary to prepare for Kasab's defence and study the material in the chargesheet filed before the court.

The lawyer said he may be allowed to inspect "Kuber" and terror target spots, including hotels Taj and Trident Oberoi, before witnesses step into the box to depose. Kazmi said he wanted to inspect the boat as the prosecution has alleged that Kasab and nine other terrorists had reached the shores of Mumbai on November 26 last on board this vessel.

The police had seized certain articles from the boat and sent them to forensic laboratory for tests. These include Kasab's fingerprints. Kasab is also charged with killing the navigator of this boat, Amarsinh Solanki.

The court will decide Kazmi's plea after hearing the special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. The court hinted that it may also allow other defence lawyers to visit these places along with Kasab's lawyer.

In another development, Nikam tabled a list of documents including forensic reports and panchnamas which form part of the chargesheet.

Kasab's Case: What is the need to delay the execution of capital punishment?By: Leo Frank | 08-May-2009 Reply | Forward Inordinate delays in the execution of capital punishment to Mohd. Afzal, and now, in imparting justice to Ajmal Kasab are examples of the lax nature of legal system in our country! It now seems that the police should have have shot these perpetrators there
kasab's lawyer wants to inspect kuber boat.By: kaye Sharma | 08-May-2009 Reply | Forward Kasab's trial was wayward from day one -what with defence council's dilly dallying and DNA foul-ups ! This man has committed crimes against humanity, invading India from foreign soil. Such criminals dont have legal rights ? I guess they require some legal route to the gallows.; a special court empowered as a military court. It will be a national shame if this trial too lingers on for years; like Abu Salem's and Afzal Guru's plea for mercy .And a signal to the terror squads; kill Indians and enjoy our hospitality !!! Terrorism doesnt deserve mercy ! I had anticipated legal gaffes from the way investigations went , and blogged---'6/11 Terrorist judiciary's migraine "--. Its on my blog site -' Kayesharma @sulekha.com' -for your reading if you so desire .
"Will truth really triumph"?By: Padmaja Parthasarathy | 08-May-2009 Reply | Forward More than offering a fair trial to Kasab, his lawyer wants to prove himself a successful criminal defence counsel so that he could become popular, take up high profile and wealthy cases in future and become rich and famous in a short time. So he is hell-bent on finding any loop hole in the prosecution arguments to defend his client and to exhibit his expertise. In other words, these tactics are meant to promote his own career and prospects. But for this case, who would've heard of Mr. Abbas Kazmi? Now all the gangsters and big criminals in India are going to be waiting in line in front of Mr. Kazmi's residence. Good for him and bad for the country! Is it really true that "Truth alone will triumph"?
