Kashmiri Pandits celebrate Basant Panchami in Valley

The small population of Kashmiri Pandits living in the Valley celebrated Basant Panchami by organizing a special Puja at a city temple here.

The small population of Kashmiri Pandits living in the Valley today celebrated Basant Panchami by organizing a special Puja at a city temple here.

“The Basant Panchami was celebrated at the Sheetleshwar Bhairav Mandir at Barbarshah here,” Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti President Sanjay Tikkoo said.

In a statement,Tikkoo accused successive state governments and local political parties of ignoring the plight of Kashmiri Pandits who did not leave the Valley despite militant violence.

“We strongly believe that the State and central governments treat Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley as second class citizens,” he alleged.
