Pakistan captain has said that the Indian team is underperforming due to excessive cricket.

Pakistan captain Younis Khan feels the "jaded and tired" Indian team is a perfect example of how non-stop cricket can affect a side's performance, highlighting an urgent need to "reinvent" the international calendar.

Younis said the exhaustive and gruelling schedule was leading to many fitness issues for players and also early burnout of many promising careers.

"Pakistan has not played that much cricket in the last two years due to the security issues in our country but the other teams are playing non-stop particularly commercially viable sides like India and Australia," he said. India and Australia are currently playing a seven-match ODI series in which the hosts are trailing the world champions 2-4.

"You can see how some of the players especially Indians are looking jaded and tired. I think it would be a good idea if the administrators rethink the international calendar when they finalise the post 2012 future tours program," he added. Younis felt fewer matches spread over lesser number of venues would help the players remain fit.

"It would be a good idea if the travelling of teams was cut down on tours and during tournaments. It would be good for players if one venue was selected to host at least two matches in a series that would cut down the travelling of teams," he said.

"It is always easier to adjust to weather conditions and other details when you play more than one match at one venue. It eases the pressure of travelling on players," Younis added. Younis also called for the ICC to lay out mandatory breaks of at least two weeks between series and tournaments to allow players to recharge.

Put your house in order first ..By: Ram Menon-Kampala . | 11-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward I think younus khan should first put his house in order ,rather than thinking about the Indian tem ,he has the dreaded dagger hanging over his neck ,and he should rather try to protect his place and position in the side rather than comment about the indian tem .The indian team lost because the aussies were more profeesional and clinical and not we lost not because of jaded players !!!whole lot of junk ...Mr Khan...
too much cricketBy: roosevelt | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward i think the whole of the bloody paki team is jealous of our cricketers.especially the SOB afridi.we,and our bloody media gives them too much importance.
Bad planningBy: indian | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward The problem with the indian team is just not the over load on crickters but the greed to make money. It is time that a 1 billion strong population has more than one team. In my view, India with all its money should able to have two teams in place for international tourney. This would not only allow a load balance for the players, but also have good competetion with the team. In my view, Dhoni is very high rated captain and a player compared to his actual potential. Under Ganguly's captainship we had so may youngsters come up, Yuvraj, Gambir, Shewag, etc. but under Dhoni we do not have anyone who is worth mentioning. Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma, Raina, Yusuf Pathan etc. none of them have proved consistency and a stable product so far. It is just luck and media which is holding Dhoni at his current position. If we look back at the current series with Australia, what is that we have achieved. Two of the top money earners in our side has scored centuries and a mile stone for Tendulkar.
Ganguly OverratedBy: shirish | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward You say Dhoni is over-rated. I say even Saurav was too much hype. True, the high points of his captaincy tenure were 2003 world cup, Australia series down under (2003-04) & Pakistan (2004). But then there was a "crash" - a) Thrashed 2-0 by Aussies on Indian soil by a team playing without Captain Ponting ( 2004)(b)Weakest ever team from Pakistan beat us 4-2 on our own soil without Shoab Akhtar (2005) (c)continuously bad losses till Sept 2005 resulting in Ganguly losing captaincy and his team spot. Dhoni has had a magical high from 2007 T-20 WC right upto the New Zealand tour. It is post IPL-II that this team suddenly looks tired & jaded.
Burnout CricketBy: Pankaj Kumar Singh | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Playing cross batted Pakistani sytle of Batsmanship have earned him lot of praise but its first time he has express his veiw correctly.Only a persom form sideline can judge what is wrong with team India. Playing too much yes too much of back to back cricket is affecting team India yet its administrators are denying such things that is called burnout.Few months ago team India was tired and its captain accepted it that fit palyers making things difficult in the middle. They got two month rest and start playing once again. But in two weeks and after 6 ODIs with Aussies we all can sense players tiredness.and you wont believe that they are not going to take rest as thet have to play uptil 2011 world cup. In these scenario you yourself and imagne India forthcoming performances.
Kaun Banega Khan, Younis?By: M.V.Muthu | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Who the hell is Younis Khan to sit on judgement on Team India and its performance. This guy is unsure of his own position. Let him mind his own business. The Paki Team got thrashed by the Kiwis to clinch the series 2-1. The final match would not have gone the full length but for a frindly umpire who stood by the Pakis by turning down a plumb LBW decision and clear CBW.Incidentally, the fact that, in the final match, Pakistan's first nine (batsmen, including Younis Khan) were dismissed cheaply while the tenth (10th) and (11th) batsmen could build a partnership of over 100 runs, yet again raises eyebrows about Younis Khan and his mates. In none too worse a situation such as this, Younis Khan had played a drama by puting in his papers as captain when his integrity was called into question.
