  • Revelations continue to trickle out on how Kausar Bi, wife of Sohrabuddin Shaikh, was killed and her body disposed of by the Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) led by DIG D G Vanjhara. Sources in the CID (Crime) now say that Vanjhara’s driver Nathusinh Jadeja has confessed to being an eyewitness to the burning of Bi in the fields of Illol, Vanjhara’s home village in Sabarkantha district of north Gujarat.

As per statements of Jadeja, who sources say might turn approver in the fake encounter case, Vanjhara led the last rites of burning while then SP (Operations) Rajkumar Pandian, Deputy SP (CID) N K Amin, Sub-Inspector Balkrishna Choube, ATS Inspector R C Rathod and driver Jadeja were present. The revelations gain significance as Amin, shown as being present at the spot of crime, was initially made the investigating officer (IO) in the case. It was only after the then supervising officer DIG (CID) Rajnish Rai objected to his presence that charge was taken from him and given to present IO, G B Padheria.

Sources said based on these revelations, Amin was likely to be detained for questioning very soon.
