Former Australian PM Kevin Rudd will speak on 'China's Leadership Transition and the Future of a Rising Power' at the second IISS Oberoi lecture in Mumbai on December 11.
Rudd, also an expert on China, was in Beijing recently when the new leadership took charge there.
While many Western politicians have remained reasonably reticent on China's choice of Xi Jinping as the new President, Rudd has expressed that he believes that the new leader is "experienced, confident and self-assured and because of his family's political pedigree, comfortable with the mantle of political leadership", based on his personal knowledge of Xi.
