Khalsa College alumni take a trip down memory lane

  • Renowned actor Om Puri was honoured with the College Ratna Award at the Old Students’ Meet organised at Khalsa College, Patiala, on Friday. The function was part of a series of events held to commemorate and celebrate the Golden Jubilee Year of the college.

    As the chief guest, Om Puri shared fond memories of his college days and said the initial exposure and encouragement that he got from here had played a vital role in grooming him.

    He recalled that he was adjudged the best actor for a role he portrayed in the play Anhoni during the youth festival, which proved to be a stepping stone into the world of films. He added that it was a proud moment for him that the College Ratna Award had been bestowed upon him.

    Gurmohan Singh Walia, director, Education, SGPC, Amritsar, presided over the function.

    Manjit Singh, dean, College Development Council, Punjabi University, Patiala, said the Old Students’ Association provides a unique forum to unite with college friends. Earlier, principal Dharminder Singh Ubha shared the achievements of the college. A total of 11 alumni were given awards at the event.
