Senior BJP leader and former MP CM Uma Bharti on Saturday visited the Nighasan police station in Lakhimpur Kheri district where a minor girl was found hanging from a fallen tree last week. Uma met family members of the victim and supported their demand for CBI inquiry into the case.
She talked to the family for over half-an-hour and the girls mother Tarannum briefed her about the entire incident and the way police allegedly mounted pressure to change her statement.
Uma assured the family the BJP would fight for the justice to them. Uma asked the family to inform the local BJP leaders if any person threatened them in connection with the case.
Umaji said it is time for the postmortem of Mayawati government, said Lokendra Pratap Singh,BJP district president,Kheri. Uma also opposed the state governments plan to develop an expressway along the river Ganga.
BJP state media in-charge Narendra Singh Rana said Uma Bharti will visit Lucknow on Sunday where she will address the party workers.
