He was kidnapped from Nashik 3 days ago; 3 arrested
Builder Amit Yeshwant Pingle, who was kidnapped from Nashik three days ago, was rescued from Jejuri in Pune district on Tuesday. A team of Nashik police with the help of Pune rural police arrested five persons in this case.
The suspects have been identified as Ravindra alias Bhau More (40) of Phaltan, Mahendra Kakade (38) of Phaltan, Vinod More (27) of Baramati, Maruti Sonawane (32) of Baramati and Subodh Patwardhan (29) of Narayangaon.
Investigations revealed that suspect Patwardhan knew Pingle's brother-in-law Amol Narayan Ladgaonkar, who deals in selling gold from Africa to Dubai through his organisation Ashapura Gold FEZ.
Police said Ladgaonkar had taken 15 kg gold and 150 kg silver from Patwardhan for about Rs 3 crore. However, there was a dispute between the two parties as the cheque given by Patwardhan bounced. Patwardhan had also issued a legal notice to Ladgaonkar.
Meanwhile, Pingle was kidnapped from Nashik three days ago and the kidnappers allegedly demanded Rs 50 lakh from the family for his release. His wife Supriya had lodged a complaint at the Sarkarwada police station.
The kidnapper called Pingle'a family to Pune with the amount on Monday. Initially, they decided to meet at Kasarwadi, Nashik Phata, but later changed the location to Jejuri.
The Nashik police then contacted the Jejuri police. A team led by assistant police inspector Jyotiram Gunjawte laid a trap and nabbed the five suspects and rescued Pingle. Police have seized the car used by the suspects for kidnapping.
