The Government Railway Police recovered 10-year-old Delhi boy, Kapil, from Kanpur Central Railway station on Sunday morning. The boy had been kidnapped from outside Bal Vikas Vidyalaya, Kalyanpuri, East Delhi, on Saturday afternoon. The GRP team also arrested one of the kidnappers, identified as Devendra. A country-made pistol of .315 bore, two live cartridges, sedatives and a rope were recovered from him.
The GRP team spotted Kapil in a general compartment of the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express. GRP Inspector Tripurari Pandey said, “I became suspicious, as he was wearing a school uniform.”
The GRP team immediately caught hold of Devendra and brought him and the minor to the GRP station. “Devendra admitted that he had kidnapped Kapil and was taking him to Bihar,” said Pandey.
The GRP team returned Kapil to his father, whereas Devendra was handed over to a Delhi Police team.
On information given by GRP Kanpur, Delhi Police later arrested the two other kidnappers — Jantri and Mukim.
A Class III student, Kapil went missing after school got over on Saturday afternoon.
His father, Shyam Veer, who runs a dairy and a rickshaw business, told the police that his son had left for school in Block 8 of Trilokpuri, around 8 am. Though he usually comes back by 1.30 pm, he did not return till late on Saturday afternoon.
Shyam Veer reached the school around 3 pm. There he got to know from Kapil’s fellow students that two persons, known to Kapil, had taken him away on a rickshaw, after school hours.
