India and Pakistan on Monday held talks over the Kishanganga power project after the previous meeting between the two sides in Lahore last month had failed to reach any conclusion.

Indus Water Commissioners of the two countries are trying to resolve the dispute over the design of the Kishanganga dam and other aspects of the 330-MW project on the Jhelum river. Raising objections to the gate structure, height and size level, diversion plan and storage capacity of the Kishanganga project, Pakistan had hinted at approaching the World Bank for arbitration.

Under the Indus Water Treaty, 1960, the WB can be brought in as an arbitrator to settle disputes. Pakistan had earlier approached WB on the Baglihar dam issue but the decision went in favour of India.
