The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday got three more days extension for the remand of two school students,Abid Hussain and Shariq Ahmed, for their custodial interrogation in connection with the bomb blast outside the Delhi High Court. Abid and Shariq, both Class XI students at Islamia Faridia Higher Secondary School, were arrested by the police for allegedly sending an email to the media claiming HuJI's responsibility for the blast that killed 15 and injured 80 on September 7. Monday's extension came as the police, after the expiry of the seven-day remand, produced the duo before Principal District and Sessions Judge,Kishtwar,M L Manhas, and sought seven more days for their custodial interrogation. The judge, however, extended the police remand by only three days. According to the police, the boys had sent the terror e-mail from Kishtwar's Global Internet cyber café to media houses in Delhi soon after the blast. The mail was reportedly provided to them by Aamir Abbas,an undergraduate student at the Moulana Azad University. The boys had reportedly skipped school on that day in order to send the email soon after the blast. It was on their disclosure that the police had arrested Aamir. However, their parents have denied the involvement of their wards in the matter. While the parents of Aamir and Abid said their wards were poor students and not fluent in English,Shariq's parents said he was a meritorious student having passed his Class VIII and X examinations with distinction marks. Aamir is an epilepsy patient, and Abid is stated to be suffering from trauma ever since his mother died when he was six. The management of Islamia Faridia Higher Secondary School said that Abid and Shariq were absent from class on September 7. But,while pointing out that they had been absent from school for the last many days, principal Abdul Salam Bhat said they were not the only students to have missed school on September 7. With their annual examination scheduled to be held next month, most students preferred studying at home instead of attending classes,he added.
