  • The Enforcement Directorate on Monday handed over a sealed envelope to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, who is facing money laundering charges, at his residence in Ranchi.

"We have given it (sealed envelope) to Kodaji," an ED official told newsmen when asked whom did he delivered the envelope.

Accompanied by an IT official, he refused to give any further detail on the fresh envelope even as the ED had served summons to Koda to appear before it on November 13.

After a brief break following Koda's illness, the IT will start grilling Koda from tomorrow in connection with the Rs 2000 crore alleged hawala transactions and illegal investments that surfaced on October 31.

The scam surfaced after the IT department conducted raids on 76 premises across the country on October 31, including the residences of Koda.

Meanwhile, several people, apparently from Koda's Singhbhum Lok Sabha constituency, were allowed to meet him at his residence even as the media was kept out.

    Koda aide surrenders before IT

Devendra Mukhia, an alleged aide of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, on Monday surrendered before the Income Tax department in Ranchi which wants to probe his involvement in the alleged hawala and illegal investments case.

Mukhia is among the four persons, who had failed to meet the November 6 deadline set by the IT department to appear before it for questioning in connection with Rs 2000 crore hawala transactions and illegal investments case.

The scam surfaced after the department launched raids on 76 premises across the country on October 31, including on the residences of Koda.

Koda Raja! By: Ajit | 17-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward This pathetic congress govt. has only helped saving these culprits after they were caught by investigating authorities. I'm sure the concerned ministries are getting there kickbacks from these scams too.
Madhu koda scamBy: sangitha | 09-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward I am wondering inpite of such a massive plunder of public moneyby Madhu koda the central govt/ED/IT officials taking their own sweet time to take harsh action against him. Why has there been absolutely no comment or action taken by the existing finance minister of the prime minister? By keeping silent what are they trying to indicate? The public is afraid if this man is left scot free after some initial tamasha, who can we turn too, will there be no justice to such plunderers who have blatantly usurped the entire resource dedicated to the poor people of Jharkahnd. Will Madhu koda will also go the Lalu/Jaylalitha/Mayawati way who are already tainted for their role in exploiting govt money for their vested interest. Hope this time the officials seriously take action against Madhu Koda and give him the harshest of punishment so that no politicians ever think of taking the masses for a ride.
