  • Special TADA judge in the 1993 serial bomb blasts case Pramod Kode was on Monday transferred to Nashik District Court as Principal Judge. Earlier, on April 15, Kode had been conferred additional charge as Principal Judge of the city, civil and sessions court.

A notification posted on the official website of the Bombay High Court confirmed that Principal Judge of the Nagpur District Court T V Nalawde will replace Kode here as principal judge of the city, civil and sessions court. The judges will take charge of the new postings on or before June 9.

Kode is currently conducting the trial of four accused in the Mumbai bomb blasts case of 1993, whose cases were separated from the other 123 earlier accused in the case. These four include extradited gangsters Abu Salem and Mustafa Dossa.

Judge Kode, during his stint as the designated TADA judge for over a decade, convicted over 100 persons for their role in carrying out the blasts, allegedly at the behest of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Twelve persons were sentenced to death and 20 to life imprisonment. Actor Sanjay Dutt was also convicted by Kode under the Arms Act and sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment for illegal possession of weapons.
