Karnataka CM criticised some Christian organisations for inducing conversion to Christianity.

"On account of conflict of interest in the matter of land rights, employment opportunities and religion, there were clashes between communities," Patnaik said.

He added that the situation was brought under control and the state government has announced a slew of measures to facilitate harmonious and speed up socio-economic development of different communities living in the district.

Conversion or religious inversionBy: jay | 17-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward Sir,When the Pope visited India,he gave a call for "A Harvest of Faith". A very harvest of faith is going on with added vigour. There is nothing wrong with a person choosing his own line of faith,be it another religion or even Atheism. This is a matter of individual choice, but to "harvest Faith " from poor, helpless and illiterate men and women will merely increase the numbers in a demographic statistic,a mere information. When the Lord talked about Sheep and Shepherd,it was in a metaphorical context, and not treating people as sheep to be herded into a new pen or a religion.Yes ,it is heartening and divine to offer shelter, food and a better life ,but there should be no quid pro quo ,otherwise the excercise will remain plain forced proselytism. And pray tell me,by anyone who knows the matter well, will these so converted be treated as equal members of the Church with the right to be given a parishioner's status in life and after, like social equality and burial in Church Cemetery?

Communal violenceBy: John | 14-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward When poor dalits and tribals starve, nobody bothers. If someone come forward to help them by providing food, shelter or education and because of this they happens to converts, the so called guardians of Hindus come to burn Orphanage, Churches, etc. BJP polyticians supports such heinous crime too. Incredible.
helpBy: rajan | 18-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward Go to pakistan, Afaganistan and other muslim country. There are lot of poor. Even in Country please go the muslim and help them . Try to convert. then u nonsence able to knoe what sort of reply you will get. Tis is simple rediculous and nonsence.
conversionBy: Sana | 14-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward If the people who are readily converting to Christianity, help these dalits or whoever, without converting them to their own religion, then that would be a class act, of really doing something selfless for these people. But if there is conversion on the agenda, then its a no brainer.
conversionBy: Harsha | 15-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward Well said. I second your opinion
Conversion is the cause of ViolenceBy: J.N.Mahanty | 14-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward While violence of all forms deserves to be condemned, Christians of the Country shd introspect to find out the reasons for the alleged attacks on Churches,Pastors
Centre finding faults in othersBy: Harsh | 14-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward While the UPA is looking into what they themselves are doing about the Terror Situation in the country, They are busy pin pointing blame on others. Not only they dont want POTA to come into effect which somewhat helps and empowers the Poilce and Intelligence, they are setting wrong examples by pardoning people like Afzal's. India is a Hindu Nation, Under the constitution and Facts knows to all, India is a Hindu Nation. People Should follow the way of life people live here. If they have a problem with that, like any other india they too have a "Righ to Leave" the country. Noone can justify forced conversions which have been going on for ages. Though i am not justifying any politician or any religion, but propoganda against something to benefit your own cause is totally against the law of the nature.
