While the central leadership of the Congress is learnt to be cold to Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwajs report to the Centre recommending dismissal of the BS Yeddyurappa government, the state unit of the party has gone on the offensive demanding the sacking of the BJP-led government. A delegation of Congress leaders on Saturday called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this connection. After the meeting,Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah told reporters that the BJP government has lost all rights to continue in office and should step down. Congress leaders justified the Governors recommendation, saying that Karnataka was a fit case for the imposition of Presidents Rule. Siddaramaiah said the Prime Minister assured the delegation that the Centre would take a decision after considering all aspects. Congress sources explained that while the partys central leaders are not favourably disposed to the Governors recommendations, state unit of the party has to keep the heat on Yeddyurappa government, especially because the BJP has been seeking to turn the table on the Congress by targeting the Governors report. On Saturday, the BJP,led by Yeddyurappa himself, launched its campaign for Bhardwajs removal, with two rallies in Raichur and Mysore. In Raichur,Yeddyurappa accused Bhardwaj of trying to rule the state by dismissing the elected government. The Governor wanted to rule the state for six months. A few months ago,he suggested to me to dissolve the Assembly so that he will get six months to rule, he said.
