  • Karnataka Govt is keeping a 'close watch' on medical and engineering students.

Karnataka has become a 'safe haven for terrorists' and it has come to light that medical and engineering students are involved in terrorist activities, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said on Tuesday.

"The state has become a safe haven for terrorists, especially Bangalore, Hubli, Dharwad and the coastal region," he told reporters in Hubli.

In view of this, the government is keeping a "close watch" and many Pakistanis and Bangladeshis who are overstaying in the state following expiry of visa are now being identified for deportation, he said.

CENTRAL TEAM REVIEWS SECURITY OF CHURCHES

A Central team deputed to review security measures taken in the aftermath of attacks on churches in Karnataka arrived here today to assess the situation.

The team led by Special Secretary (Internal Security) M L Kumawat held discussions with state police officials and obtained details about the attacks.

The delegation comprising Union Home Ministry Joint Secretary A K Yadav visited Kulashekara church, Fr Muller Institutions at Kankanadi and Milagres church, which bore the brunt of the attacks on September 14.

Kumawat refused to talk to media persons saying "we have just begun our visit".

As the central team arrived for review, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa criticised the UPA government's move asserting that the "law and order situation is very good".

"What is happening in Delhi? Everyday innocent people are being killed by terrorists. The Centre is keeping quiet, but sends letters to Karnataka", Yeddyurappa told media in Hubli apparently referring to the Centre's two warning advisories to it in the wake of attacks on churches.

    ... contd.

Sleeping Home Ministry wakes upBy: Raman V K | 24-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward It appears the Central Government of India feels obligated to take action in response to statements from Vatican and USA, than respond to Indians suffering due to terrorism. The swift action in sending a team to Karnataka is really surprising from an otherwise "sleeping (during terror) cell"

Yeddy, be careful, media is not with youBy: C.K.Sunil | 24-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward iSafe heaven for the terrorist. This the legacy of the congress /JDS rule in Karnataka and the UPA at the center. Yeddy. your mandate is for tackling this situation and make Karnataka safe haven for all peace loving citizen by rooting out extimists and terrorists from the society. People have (expect the congress/JDS leaders) great expectations from you and your govt. Keep the hard core sang parivar under check. There are so many peaceful ways to oppose convertion. Otherwise you will end up wasting your time pacifying church priests and bissops in Karnataka. Remember all media is against you and the majority community and they are with the socalled 'seculers'.It looks they do not bother even if 100% of the natives are converted to other faiths like what happened in USA and Canada!
Anti BJPBy: Name with held | 24-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward All these attacks are done by Congress to de-fame BJP. Congress specialises in foul play. It is all to promote vote bank.
It's not just KarnatakaBy: Raj | 24-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward It's absurd to say that Christians are luring the poor people and converting them on the name of religion. I am a hindu, however I would like to ask - does any hindu organization provides what the christian organizations does? If not, why are we stopping those poor people from getting the meals - even if this is done by converting to another religion?Unfortunately, we are so hypocrites and we pick the wrong guys to rule our country - be it congress or bjp or any other party. What we need is another revolution to cleanse the country from all politicians. We also need to cleanse the consitution. We need to put a plan to revamp India to meet global standards of living and security.Which political leader or party has such plans? I don't see any! That's the irony of India.
