Nine months after the November 26 Mumbai terror attacks, the ill-fated fishing boat Kuber is ready to set sail into the Arabian Sea from Porbandar. With six crew members on board, boat owner Vinod Masani offered prayers on Saturday for the smooth sailing of Kuber.
Despite repeated efforts, Masani did not agree to speak in this regard. However, according to sources close to him, Kuber, which was to sail on Saturday, will now begin its journey from Porbandar coast on Sunday.
Post 26/11, Kuber was in the custody of security agencies investigating the terror attacks. After getting a clean cheat from them, Kuber was brought back to Porbandar on March 9 and since then it has remained anchored in the Porbandar jetty.
“In the last five months, more than Rs 5 lakh have been spent on the boat’s repair. All the preparations for sailing and fishing have been made and food-stuff, ice and fuel stock have been kept ready,” said sources.
“We hope the fishing season proves fruitful for fishermen and pray that no untoward incident (like 26/11) takes place,” said sources.
According to unconfirmed sources though, Kuber had already left the Porbandar coast.
