  • To get rid of the repeated grilling by various security agencies, Vinod Masani, the owner of the boat Kuber, wants to either sell it off or rent it out to the police for patrolling purposes.

The ill-fated trawler was hijacked by the terrorists who attacked Mumbai on November 26, last year.

Masani said, despite “the clean chit by the security agencies, the boat has remained anchored at the Porbandar Port under the shadow of suspicion”.

He said: “I intend to meet senior police officers in this regard and submit my idea to sell Kuber or provide it to them on a rental basis. It will help avoid any misunderstanding in the future.” He added that he will sell or give it out on rent to none other than the police department.

“I can sell it to any private party, but will not do so, as the boat is considered important evidence in the Mumbai attack,” he said.

He added that though he was much bothered by the various agencies in the aftermath of the terror attack, he doesn’t intend to change the boat’s name. Masani further said the boat has been much damaged and around Rs 3-4 lakh is needed to make it seaworthy again.
