Kulkarni was in Dewas on day Joshi was killed: report

Abhinav Bharats Kulkarni was associated with 'core group' that executed the IED blast in Ajmer.

The Military Intelligence report on Lt Colonel Prasad Srikant Purohit has revealed that Abhinav Bharats covert operations in-charge Sameer Kulkarni was in Dewas,Madhya Pradesh,on December 29,2007 the same day that former RSS pracharak and Ajmer blast accused Sunil Joshi was shot dead. Kulkarni,code-named Chanakya by Purohit,was associated with the core group that executed the IED blast in Ajmer on October 11,2007.

According to the MI report,Ajay Rahilkar aka Raja,financial controller of Abhinav Bharat,disclosed to the joint interrogation team that after receiving a call from Swami Aseemanand aka Naba Sarkar,Purohit told him that one of their organisation members,Sunil Joshi,had been killed. Purohit also added that Sunil Joshi had carried out the Ajmer blasts. When confronted in the presence of Rahilkar,Purohit admitted to have received such a call. Aseemanand requested him to find out details of the incidents, says the report.

The report,a copy of which is with The Indian Express,adds: Sameer Kulkarni,Chanakya of Abhinav Bharat,who was present in Dewas on that day,conveyed to Purohit that local elements of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) had killed Sunil Joshi. However,Purohit Kulkarni was in Dewas on day Sunil Joshi was killed: report could not explain the presence of Sameer on the very day of the incident at Dewas.

Sameer Kulkarni has been described in the report as known arsonist who murdered two Christians in Orissa in August 2008.

The report states that while Purohit informed Swami Aseemanand that the murder of Sunil Joshi was the handiwork of Islamists,he told Ajay Rahilkar that killing of Sunil Joshi was the handiwork of our own people. Aseemanand was interested in finding out the reasons for Joshis murder as he had paid money from the Abhinav Bharat kitty to conduct the Ajmersharif and Mecca Masjid blasts.

The MI report states that during 2007-2008,the group had Rs 18 lakh in their kitty,out of which Rs 4 lakh was given to Aseemanand to buy a vehicle,and a percentage of the collection was given for his use.

According to his confession before the CBI court on December 18,2010,he was informed about the crime by Bharat Bhai. Aseemanand records in his confession that he called up Purohit to inform him that one of our boys who was responsible for Ajmer blasts had been murdered.

I asked Col Purohit that as he was from intelligence he should find out who murdered Sunil Joshi. Col Purohit informed later that Sunil Joshi had himself committed murders and it appeared that his killing was an act of revenge, Aseemanand stated in writing.

Kurnool bus accident that killed 20 caused by drunk biker, says forensic report

A forensic report has concluded that the Kurnool bus accident, which claimed 20 lives, was caused by a drunk biker, B Shiva Shankar. The biker was allegedly driving under the influence when his bike skidded on a wet road and collided with the bus, causing it to burst into flames. The police have gathered evidence and the investigation is ongoing.
