'I would like to correct that Kulkarni was not a member of the BJP', party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

Embarrassed by the resignation of Sudheendra Kulkarni, BJP on Sunday said his dissociation from the party will have no impact on it as he was not a member.

"I would like to correct that Kulkarni was not a member of the BJP. For the last two years, he is not in the BJP. Of course, he was assisting Advani sometimes and also other senior leaders...," party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

He said Kulkarni's dissociation with the BJP will have no impact on the party as a "large number of people are associated with different leaders and it is not necessary if the person is associated personally with the leader is also associated with the party".

Echoing similar sentiments, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said Kulkarni, who was closely associated with Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani, was not a member of the BJP since 2005.

"He was associated with election-related work. The whole election mechanism was wound up immediately after the Lok Sabha polls by party president Rajnath Singh."

Senior party leader Balbir Punj termed Kulkarni as a "very valuable colleague". He said Kulkarni was an organisation man, "an intellectual of great height and a very articulate face of the party".

Idiotic remarks relentleslyBy: Kalidas M | 24-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward If you are so impact proof, just wait for the next elections. You guys are no better than the deshdrohi Congress. Shame on all the bogus politicians who forget their duties the moment elections are over.
jltBy: mtg | 23-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward When a party has no use of an intellectual or experience, it is sooner or later a dying or decadent entity. kulkarni's exit, the rigid stance of BJP without actually evaluating jaswan't book and literary merit, lack of honesty, transparency in functioning and dearth of introspection after poll debacle, is beginning of the end for the party. none in it merit any credibility or stance on true hinduism. BJP's stance of hindu is like pakistan's existence (anti-india), anti-muslim, dogmatic, disciplined and exclusive. a new dawn is emerging where CPM and BJP's are soon going to be replaced with new brood of younger people. congress did it and it is reaping benefits.
